Menkyo Kaiden Shihan Scott Evans

instructor2Shihan (master instructor) Evans opened Koyama Dojo in 2004 after relocating to Michigan from his hometown of Akron, OH. He has studied the past 20 years under Soke (headmaster) LaMonica. Shihan Evans has grown Koyama Dojo to be the most successful Hakko Denshin Ryu Dojo in the western hemisphere second only to the Honbu (headquarters) Dojo. Koyama Dojo enjoys a great relationship with the Ann Arbor YMCA thanks to his efforts.

In addition to martial arts instruction, Shihan Evans is a successful executive at an international bio-tech company. He is raising his two daughters and son with whom he looks forward to sharing his passion for Jujutsu.

Shihan Joel Reynolds

instructor3Shihan Reynolds began training in Hakko Denshin Ryu 15 years ago at the Honbu Dojo. As a Border Officer for the Department of Homeland Security, he uses the techniques of our art on almost a daily basis. When he was transferred to Detroit, he joined Koyama Dojo with a rank of gokyu (green belt). He was awarded his Shihan rank in 2012 from Soke LaMonica. He also holds a black belt in Kenpo.

Shihan Reynolds lives in the Metro Detroit area with his wife, daughter, and son.
